Our Church
As of Samhain 1999 (October 31st, 1999), Pleasant Valley Unitarian Universalist Church became the first "Earth Centered" Unitarian Universalist Church in Texas.
From the sources section of the Principles & Purposes of the Unitarian Universalist Association:
The living tradition we draw from comes from many sources including...
spiritual teachings of Earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.
Much of what we do comes from our Mission Statement and Vision Statements...
PVUUC Mission Statement
(revised 1/28/2007)
We encourage one another to explore his or her personal potential through active involvement in the life of the church and the community at large.
We nuture one another's religious growth by providing a sanctuary for spiritual discovery and by expanding our knowledge of and respect for other religions and philosophies.
We use our strengths in pursuit of a better world through community and environmental action.
We raise awareness of Unitarian Universalist principles through the community.
PVUUC Vision Statement
(revised 1/28/2007)
Pleasant Valley Unitarian Universalist Church is:
Where we gather to honor the sacred in a family-supportive environment,
Where we respect diversity in belief and diversity of lifestyle,
Where we provide a spiritual home and point of connection for those seeking to honor the divine in any form.
In so doing, we will be a welcoming church. And we will reclaim and reintegrate Earth Centered Spirituality, so that it might be restored to its rightful place of dignity among the family of religious traditions.
Come celebrate the sacred circle of life with us!
